The emoticon voting page states "Votes must have 75% support (with minimum 10 support votes) out of the total supports and opposes in at most 8 days in order to pass."
MY OPINION:
I really do not think this is a good system. Example: here. This emote was added in a couple of hours as it had met all requirements. It got 10 votes very quickly. Here's where the system fails: What if the majority of the community wanted to oppose this emote? I know that 75 percent of the votes have to be in support so you may say "the majority of the community /can/ vote" HOWEVER if an emote has 10 supports (and lets assume no opposes), it automatically becomes approved. The rule is phrased very strangely: I thought originally that the emote would be /up for 8 days/, but really, 8 days is /the amount of time the vote can be up until it meets the requirements/.
That being said, I think most were fine with the particular emote above. But still, if I submit an emote, and it is supported by /ten/ people, it's automatically an emoticon. It's added and then the page is archived. Bam. Pretend I want my emote on chat. Why wouldn't I PM/message all the people I know who want this emote and then after immeidately submitting the emote, link them to support? Once it reaches 10, bam, it's an emote. I could easily gather up 10 users, submit my emote, tell them all to support as fast as they can, then bam it's an emote. And even if one or two or three users slide in there to oppose, once it reaches 10 it's all over, as 9/12 supports is still 75 percent. People can just plan it all to get their emote. Plus, ten people is very little if you look at how many active members we have. The community does not have enough time to oppose. new rules ugh
