Emoticon voting

So right now with emoticon voting, our policy isn't exactly reasonable. The same requirements for RFRs are put on emoticons which just doesn't make sense. I propose a change to this. It should be a majority vote, and we don't really get votes after the first 5 days as it is so that should change as well.

1. Should we switch it to a majority vote?

A: Yes, emoticon votes should only need 51 percent support: 19 Votes

B: No keep it as it is: 3 Vote

2. Should we change it to 5 days?

A: Yes: 16 Votes

B: No: 6 Votes

3. Should we change the amount of supporting votes needed?

A: Yes, 10 supporting votes should be needed: 17 Votes

B: No: 5 Votes

C: Other idea?

See, I don't want majority to superseded the original language of emote voting reqs. I'd like it to be part of it.

"Majority vote with at least 15 supporting votes in order for the emote to be implemented." Otherwise we could have ten people vote on an emote, six for and four against and it'd pass. Which would be ridiculous.

So then that would be A for the first vote and B for the last vote correct?

Well, since you said that the last vote is only if the first doesn't pass and it's an either/or voting set up I'll have to go with B,A,B.

Not a jab at you or anything, but often times these votes are made with poorly constructed options which are not well-enough defined and don't allow for enough variables. Of course too many variables would be bad as well, but sometimes it seems the votes here are too either/or and it's like choosing the 'lesser of two evils'. Which is why community discussions about some votes would be so great before hand (hence the Forum section for it), but it seems no one wants to put much effort into discussing an idea for a vote before being voted on. I'm not talking pages of discuss or anything, just a few ideas/suggestions thrown back and forth a bit before hand.

I love how the community wants to be so "involved" and yet, at the same time they want to put as little energy and effort within their involvement in it's operation as possible. (but spend a lot of time on chat) Rather ironic. Don't take it as a blanket statement on everyone, just an observation about a lot of people. Anyways, just a pet peeve. Continue on ya'll - it's not like I'm that active anyhow.

I never said that, each vote is separate it's just all in the same forum post so it doesn't spam people's notifications.

Oops, thought Ava's post was your's, my bad.

Still, back to my original complaint with the wording of #1 "Yes, if more than half the community wants an emoticon it should be added:" makes it sound as if #3 is moot if #1 passes. The lack of clarification on where 10/15 support votes fits in is still 'in the air' because of the wording of #1.

Do I need to be making a big deal out of this on this vote? No, not really. But it serves as a reminder that votes need to be clear and concise so that the input from users toward the vote is correct and adequate, and in order that when implementation of the outcome of said votes takes place there are no issues with wording, or proper implementation of the vote.
