Changing the Community Voting Policy

So currently our community voting policy states that those who don't have 75 edits aren't allowed to vote regardless of anything else. This means that many people who are actively part of the community in chat (let's face it chat is the community) aren't allowed to vote. I've been told that this policy is to prevent trolls from voting, but I believe that we are smart enough to decide to should and shouldn't be able to vote regardless of edit count. Should we allow people who don't have 75 edits to vote if common sense decides that they have been a big of a part of the community to make an informed decision?

A) Yes 5 votes

B) No 9 votes

C) Neutral 5 votes

D) Lower to 25 edits 1 vote

E) Change requirement to a minimum 1 month time requirement 2 votes

Yes, they should be able to vote IMO but this is where we should utilize CheckUsers for determining trolls, right?

This isn't about finding trolls, Check User rights would do nothing in this situation. This is about users who have been in the community a while but don't have enough edeits to vote.

Yeah I know that, but I'm saying we go ahead and vote yes for letting all users vote except trolls, and we could use the CUs for determining the differences between the users and trolls. Maybe I just don't know the exact job of a CheckUser.

Check Users check IP addresses. And that isn't magically going to tell them if someone is a troll or not, it would only help if an account turned out to be a dupe of someone here/someone who used to be here. So just letting everyone vote is a bad idea.

B. 75 edits is fairly simple to achieve. I have no problem with users testing out editing in the mainstream and asking questions during votes before they can vote themselves. It gives them a better picture of how voting works on this wiki.
