Matt02 is an user who joined the LEGO Message Boards on September 6, 2001. He had the rank Artisan, 2,310 posts and 1 stud. He was one of the oldest users on LEGO.com. For a while, he was the only known user to have joined in 2001, and on the same day the Message Boards were created, until the discovery of the members list. He is now mostly inactive but was still known to make a few posts on occasion. His most recent post was made around November 2012.
He had stayed true to his promise he made when he retired --- that he would check in and post every now and then, so we see a few posts by him. It was unknown why he retired or if his retirement speech was found (there was a possibility he did not make one).
His possible brother
There was another user who joined on the same day named William02 who went inactive in 2005. This may fit into the rumor that Matt's account was actually passed on to him by an older brother who left.

- He was one of only a few people to have retired and come back 10 times, the only one having done so more than him was captainBrickmaster, retiring and coming back more than 12 times.
- He was frequently called a "ghost" by Alemas, because he often does a post, then disappears, and was very "old," due to the fact that he was one of the first users ever.
- Fanboy1890 once spread a rumor that Matt was his cousin in the LNSA, which some users fell for.
